Activity Purpose/ Summary:
Today, we had a YUMP session at the Remand home. Spencer and Zoey facilitated a lesson on effective communication, specifically in heightened emotional states. They facilitated this lesson with the older class, and where able to achieve good participation.
Personnel Input:
Zoey planned and facilitated this lesson while Spencer assisted with translation wherever necessary. Class was started with a game of Simon says and telephone to illustrate communication. Then we talked about the who, what, when, where, and why of communication and from there divulged into strategies for good and healthy communication.
Achievements:
We were able to have a successful discussion about how managing our emotions and stress, which are lessons we had in the past weeks, can can catalyst healthy and effective communication.
Unanticipated Achievements:
A positive surprise was that the students where very participatory in Simon says and telephone.
