Activity Date: 14.06.2024

Facilitators: Annabel Connolly, Jule Schlageter
Number of Participants: 20

Activity Purpose/ Summary:
Swimming lessons for the children.

Personnel Input:
We led a variety of demonstrations involving the movements of lying on your back with a partner holding you underneath and finding that balance on the surface of the water. We later incorporated the foam noodles and showed the children how to kick their legs while carrying on the movements from the previous exercise – mimicking the movements of the backstroke. We provided additional help to those who struggled more than the others.

Achievements:
We got the children to practice their listening skills and taught them the value of asking questions when they needed help. We saw great achievements in their leg-kicking movements and rhythms once we gave feedback and clear demonstrations. We also noticed a significant improvement in their confidence levels in the water throughout the session.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The children listened to instructions very well and showed a lot of enthusiasm and commitment towards learning the skills of swimming, which made our job much easier. They also took feedback quickly.
