Activity Purpose/ Summary:
First, we tried to build up their water confidence by starting with the sea star exercise. They had to lay on their back and spread out like a sea star. This exercise is meant to teach them that the water will support them if they stay calm. Next, they paired up and one person laid on their back, focusing on body tension, while the other held them up to the surface by placing their arms under the hips and back. Lastly, we practiced their arm movements for the breaststroke. In the last ten minutes, they were able to play in the water.
