Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The dedicated topic of discussion was self-care routines among young people, with a particular focus on both physical and mental self-care. The session aimed to address the common tendency to prioritize physical appearance and health, often at the expense of mental well-being. By highlighting the importance of a balanced approach to self-care, the class sought to create awareness among young people about the necessity of nurturing their mental health alongside their physical health. The ultimate goal was to equip the students with knowledge and practices that promote holistic well-being, ensuring they understand that true self-care encompasses both body and mind.
Personnel Input:
As the facilitator, I observed that many students were already familiar with aspects of physical self-care such as skincare, exercise, and healthy eating. However, there was a noticeable gap in their understanding and practices related to mental self-care. Throughout the session, I emphasized the interconnectedness of physical and mental health, providing practical examples and engaging activities to illustrate the importance of mental well-being. It was gratifying to see the students engage deeply with the topic, asking insightful questions and actively participating in discussions.
Achievements:
– Balanced Perspective: Students learned to adopt a balanced approach to self-care, integrating practices that support both their physical and mental health.
– Open Dialogue: The session fostered an open dialogue about mental health, reducing stigma and encouraging students to share their experiences and concerns.
Unanticipated Achievements:
Increased Engagement: The topic generated significant interest and engagement, with students actively participating in activities and discussions more than expected.
