Activity Purpose/ Summary:
We had an art class with the Grade Four students at Koramdo School. The class created artwork inspired by Piet Mondrian. We provided them with crayons, marker pens, rulers, and plain paper for drawing. We were joined by a partner from the Ubuntu Community.

The class was engaging and interactive. The partner guided the students on how to draw and where to use colors, while we supervised and offered assistance when needed.

Personnel Input:
Piet Mondrian’s work, particularly his abstract geometric paintings, can be a great source of inspiration for school children. His use of simple shapes, primary colors, and clean lines makes his art both accessible and thought-provoking for young learners. By drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s style, children can explore the world of abstraction, balance, and color in a way that stimulates both their creativity and their understanding of geometric principles. The class was a success.

Achievements:
The class learned about Mondrian’s inspiration and why he loved drawing.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The class managed to complete the session without disturbance and with minimal supervision.
