Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The main purpose of this activity was to locate the homes of three sponsored children whose whereabouts were unclear during the initial visit on August 6th. The visit aimed to reconnect the children with their sponsors, assess their current living conditions, and engage in a family dialogue to better understand their situation and needs.

The follow-up visit on August 7th was successful, resulting in the successful tracing of the children, and the re-establishment of connections with their sponsors. The day’s activities not only strengthened the relationship between the children and their sponsors but also provided valuable insights into the children’s living conditions and needs. Moving forward, Better Me remains committed to supporting these children and their families, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve.

Personnel Input:
Thomas Ogalo led the coordination of the follow-up visit and facilitated the family dialogue.

Samambo Johannes provided logistical support and assisted in the family dialogue with the parents of the children.

Accompanying Volunteers provided emotional and social support to the children through play and interaction, creating a welcoming environment for the discussions.

Achievements:
Using the contact information obtained the previous day, the team successfully traced the homes of the children. The sponsored child’s warm embrace of his sponsor, marked a joyous reunion, highlighting the strong bond between them.

A productive discussion with the parents of the three children provided valuable insights into the reasons for the children’s temporary housing at the center and their current situation.

The team facilitated a call between another sponsor and her sponsored child. The sponsor was thrilled to reconnect with him and his siblings, expressing her gratitude for the team’s efforts.

The team also visited other children’s homes, where they were preparing to leave for the center. The team provided transportation back to the center, ensuring their safe and timely arrival.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The volunteers’ interaction with the children, through play and companionship, had a positive impact on the children’s emotional well-being, making them feel valued and cared for.
