Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The purpose of this activity was to facilitate a visit by Better Me staff and child sponsors to the homes of sponsored children. The goal was to strengthen the bond between the sponsors and their sponsored children, assess the children’s well-being, and monitor the impact of Better Me’s interventions in the children’s lives.

Personnel Input:
Samambo Johannes, Child Sponsorship Coordinator, led the coordination of the visit.

Thomas Ogalo, Programs Coordinator, supported logistical arrangements and follow-up actions.

Jane, Julia, and Eliot were child sponsors who actively engaged with their sponsored children and their families.

Achievements:
The visit reinforced the emotional connection between sponsors and their sponsored children. Notably, the warm embrace of their sponsor, highlighted the positive impact of the sponsorship program.

The visit provided an opportunity to observe the children’s living conditions and educational progress. The child was proud to showcase her home and school to the visitors.

The team visited another child who had been reintegrated back home from the Remand Home. It was reassuring to see the child doing well in school and fully settled back home. The chicken farm project, sponsored by a former volunteer, continues to thrive, providing economic support to the child’s family. Additional support for chicken feed was secured for the next two months.

The visit to the farm culminated in an emotional reunion between one sponsor and her sponsored child, who had been eagerly awaiting their meeting.

Unanticipated Achievements:
Extended Support: The visit unexpectedly led to additional support for the chicken farm project, ensuring its sustainability for the next few months.

Transport Assistance: Two children returning from the farm received a ride back to the center, offering them an easy way back.
