Activity Purpose/ Summary:
We had an art class with the fourth-grade students, and it was quite interesting. They were provided with colored pencils, crayons, and marker pens to assist with their drawings. Additionally, they were given a reference drawing to guide their work.

Our volunteer Laura helped guide the students. She demonstrated how to draw, showing the kids her work and advising them on which colors to use and where to apply them.

We supervised the class and assisted the volunteer in guiding the students, ensuring they followed instructions. The kids cooperated well, which made the session smoother and helped us manage time effectively.

Personnel Input:
We helped the kids who also had no idea what was being drawn. The kids were drawing Mondrian art. The key aspects of Mondrian art are:

Early Work: His early paintings were largely representational, depicting natural scenes such as landscapes and trees. He was initially influenced by Impressionism and Dutch Post-Impressionism.

Mondrian believed that art should not merely represent the external world but should strive to express universal truths. His pursuit of balance and harmony, along with his use of simple shapes, primary colors, and clean lines, makes his art both accessible and thought-provoking for young learners.

Achievements:
We helped the children understand what Mondrian loved, which is drawing. We also assisted them in identifying their own drawing skills.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The class managed to conduct the session with minimal supervision, which was impressive.
