Activity Purpose/ Summary:
At first, we introduced ourselves to the class by sharing our names and the countries we come from. Afterwards, we showed them the results of the previous arts class, which they really enjoyed. To kick off the main lesson, we played the song “If You Believe” by Strive to Be & Patch Crowe for them to listen to. Some students already knew the song and sang along, while others started dancing. We then practiced the lyrics of the chorus and even wrote them on the board. Once they were comfortable with the chorus, we played the song again, and they sang along each time the chorus came up. After practicing the chorus a few times, we taught them the lyrics of the middle part. By the end, they were able to sing along to both the chorus and the middle part, and during the verses, they danced to the song.

Personnel Input:
The Better Me volunteers led the lesson and taught the song while others documented the session by taking videos.

Achievements:
At the end of the lesson, all the kids sang along with the song, danced, and enjoyed the music. Now, we can use this song in upcoming lessons as a great way to start and capture the kids’ attention.

Unanticipated Achievements:
We were pleasantly surprised by the kids’ motivation and the immediate joy and happiness that emerged as soon as we started the music.
