The primary purpose of this activity was to formalize a partnership between Better Me and Mama Ngina Children’s Home in Kisumu through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This partnership aims to place Better Me volunteers at the children’s home to support daily activities, enhancing the care and support provided to the children and staff at the institution.

Personnel Input:
The discussions leading up to the signing of the MoU were led by Thomas Ogalo, the Programs Coordinator for Better Me, and Jake Burton, a Laidlaw Scholar from the University of Toronto. Their efforts, along with the involvement of the Director of Mama Ngina Children’s Home, resulted in the successful signing of the MoU. The support from the Kisumu County Government, as patrons of the children’s home, also played a crucial role in this process.

Achievements:

We’ve set up a framework for Better Me volunteers to actively participate in the daily activities at the children’s home, offering essential support to both the children and staff.
