Fablab Digital Fabrication Training

Introduction to digital fabrication training

An intense four-week training held at Korando Education Center, in Kisumu, Kenya, from 24th November to 1st January 2020.

The goal of this project was to offer the upper-level students at Korando Education center an opportunity to Introduce them to both 3D Design & 2D Design software, learn how to create their products in the Digital Fabrication Class, and get an idea of the simplicity of using machines in manufacturing and how this could easily translate to their own maker culture by expanding their thinking and promoting creativity.

The lower level students went through an Art & Crafts class in which they had an opportunity to learn the elements of Art, and they applied this knowledge in creating artwork. They also learnt about various kinds of crafts, and in class, they explored different everyday materials that they used to create things.

Using materials readily available in their environment, they have learnt through hands-on experience that they can use these things to solve common problems and they had a chance to get more familiar with the Scratch programming, where they came up with stories and animated them.
