Activity Purpose/ Summary:
We recently organized a team-building session for both our own staff and the staff of the Dolfine Korando Faith Foundation, our main partner, which includes teachers and support staff. The purpose of this event was to enhance mental wellness, foster teamwork, and improve communication among the participants, ensuring a collaborative and harmonious work environment that ultimately benefits the children we serve.

Personnel Input:
Kelvin, Samambo, and Thomas played pivotal roles in the success of this event. Kelvin kicked off the day with an insightful lecture on “wounds of the heart.” He emphasized the principle of thoughts that shape our minds and lives within the work environment. Using the story of a grandfather and his grandson discussing two wolves fighting in our minds—one embodying negative emotions like envy, anger, sorrow, greed, and arrogance, and the other positive emotions like joy, peace, love, and hope—Kelvin illustrated that the wolf which wins is the one we feed. This analogy highlighted the impact of nurturing positive thoughts on our professional and personal lives.

Following Kelvin, Samambo led various team-building activities designed to enhance critical thinking, teamwork, and physical fitness. These activities were not only engaging but also fostered a sense of unity and collaboration among the participants, breaking down barriers and encouraging open communication.

Thomas wrapped up the session with a brief but impactful talk on the importance of clear communication and considering the feelings of others through our actions. His emphasis on empathy and understanding in the workplace resonated deeply with the attendees, reinforcing the day’s learnings.

Achievements:
The team-building session successfully achieved its primary goals of improving mental wellness, fostering teamwork, and enhancing communication among the participants. The lectures and activities led by Kelvin, Samambo, and Thomas were well-received and appreciated, resulting in a noticeable improvement in the participants’ interactions and overall morale.

Unanticipated Achievements:
An unexpected achievement was the deep sense of relaxation and joy experienced by the participants by the end of the day. The combination of thought-provoking lectures, engaging activities, and a shared meal followed by swimming helped everyone unwind and bond on a personal level. This surprising outcome further strengthened the sense of community and camaraderie among the team members.
