The kids dove into the world of Mondrian art, exploring balance and harmony with vibrant colors and simple shapes. 🖍️🖌️ With the wonderful guidance of our volunteer Laura, the students learned to express universal truths through their drawings. Their creativity and cooperation made the session a joyful success! 🌟👩‍🎨

✨ Today, we were excited to welcome our partners Wilson (left) and Mary (center) from @pwahigh to Korando! With the support of our High-School Bursary Program, 21 students currently attend their school, thanks to Wilson’s inspiring vision of not just educating but empowering students with real-life skills at his non-profit high school.

But here’s the reality—right now, we’re behind on paying Term 3 school fees (about $30 per student), not just at PWA but for all 136 students across the schools we support. We need your help! 🙏

🌟 Exciting times at Makini School Kisumu! We had an amazing wellness session with Grade 6, 7, and 8 students, thanks to our partnership with Jijenge Youth Organization. 💪✨

Our 45-minute session was all about wellness—physical, mental, and spiritual. We encouraged students to reflect on their emotions and relationships through engaging activities like anonymous notes and ecomaps. 📝💭

It was inspiring to see them gain self-awareness and understand the importance of having the right tools for life's challenges.

Mila Bouman has been with Better Me in Kenya for the last 6 weeks during her gap year after high school, and what a journey it has been! 🎨🎤 From leading art classes at St. Williams, singing her heart out at karaoke nights and Dunga Hill Camp, to hiking with the kids, she has embraced every moment. Despite being far from her ‘normal’ life, she’s found a home here and feels completely part of the team. We’re so lucky to have her! 💫

🌍✨ Meet Amelie, our new volunteer from Germany! She's with us for 11 weeks and is already getting her hands full in our various projects. 🎨💃 With a love for dancing, art, and spending time with the kids, Amelie is excited to dive into all of our activities. She enjoys peaceful moments at Dunga Hill Camp, watching sunsets, and is especially enthusiastic about the activities at St. Williams School and swimming lessons with the Korando kids. We’re thrilled to have her onboard as she brings her passion and energy to Better Me! 💙

Last week, we had an amazing time at the Kisumu City Fire Station! We have partnered with the department to provide mental wellness sessions, ensuring that our first responders get the support they need to manage their mental health. 🧠💪🏽

This time, the session focused on relationships and was skillfully facilitated by Samambo. Afterwards, we had the chance to tour the fire station and learn about the incredible equipment they use to keep our city safe! 🚨👨🏾‍🚒
