DANCE CENTER KORANDO

In August 2022, while volunteering with us in Kenya, Julia Feierle from Austria was inspired to create a dance school for the children at Korando. Her vision extended beyond teaching dance—she aimed to establish a cultural exchange program that would connect children from different backgrounds through the power of movement and creativity.

Driven by the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to explore their passion and realize their potential, Julia founded Dance Center Korando with the goal of providing a nurturing space for young dancers. With the right support, she hopes to create a brighter future for the children in Kenya and foster a world where creativity knows no boundaries.

Project Objectives

Cultural Exchange:
Through this program, children from Kenya and Vorarlberg have the opportunity to learn about each other’s culture and its associated traditions. At the same time, they are given the chance to share their own culture. This not only fosters understanding but also appreciation for other cultures.

Intercultural Competence:
Direct interaction and collaboration with children from a different culture helps develop their social skills, such as openness, tolerance, and empathy. The children learn to navigate various cultural environments and communicate effectively.

Language Development:
The program provides children with the chance to deepen their English skills while also learning a few words in the native language of their exchange partners.

Encouraging Dance Talent:
Through dancing together and exchanging dance techniques, children can further develop their dance skills.

Boosting Self-Confidence:
During this project, children have the opportunity to showcase their talents and perform in front of others. This can have a positive impact on their self-confidence and self-awareness.

Building Friendships and Networks:
Dancing together provides a great opportunity for children to form friendships. In this way, they create an international network that may benefit them in the future.

Raising Awareness of Global Issues:
The project highlights the importance of intercultural exchange and helps break down prejudices. By doing so, we take a step closer to a world built on mutual respect and cooperation.
