Every girl who stays in school changes everything
In rural Kenya, girls face real pressure to leave school early — family expectations, safety concerns, and the absence of basic necessities that make attending possible. In Kisumu, 11% of teenage girls become pregnant before finishing school. For most, that means the end of their education.
At Korando, we make sure no girl has to choose between dignity and education. That includes dignity packs — hygiene essentials provided regularly so that something as simple as a period never becomes a reason to stay home.

The Korando Educational Center is more than a school. Children wake up here, eat here, study here, and go to sleep here. The dormitories, classrooms, and facilities are maintained so every child has a clean, safe place to live and learn.
The day our founder found Korando
The Korando Educational Center was founded in 1996 by Mama Dolfine — a woman who believed that children in this community deserved a place to learn. But when our founder Torsten arrived in 2012, what he found were mud structures. Basic, fragile, and in desperate need of support.
He decided to stay involved. Over the years that followed, together with Mama Dolfine and the local community, mud walls became classrooms. Temporary shelters became dormitories. A small initiative became a fully developed educational center serving 315 children today.
