Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The Lutheran Church in Kisumu runs a holiday mentorship program for students within their congregation, occasionally inviting guest speakers to address various aspects of life. In collaboration with Eagle Wings Youth Organization and Jijenge Youth Organization, we organized the students into smaller groups based on their age, with a separate group for girls to facilitate more focused and meaningful discussions.
Personnel Input:
We organized the students into three separate groups for more tailored discussions. One group focused on the most common challenges young people face in school and outside, particularly in relation to family situations, peer influence, and the broader social environment. In the boys’ group, the discussion centered on values, roles, and skills essential for their growth and development. Meanwhile, the girls’ group focused on menstrual health, hygiene, and related topics, fostering an open and supportive dialogue.
Achievements:
Conducting the session in a new environment.
Unanticipated Achievements:
More invitations to conduct sessions are coming our way.
Supporting Partners:
lutheran church, jijenge, eagle wings.
