Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The purpose of these activities was to continue preparing fourth-grade students for their final national exam in German. This included dictation exercises based on a simplified article about Kenya from a German newspaper, as well as activities to enhance comprehensive understanding. Another priority was to facilitate an open discussion about the advantages of learning a foreign language—in a foreign language. Additionally, grammar topics such as case-related relative nouns and imperative sentences were taught. Vocabulary updates were provided on several occasions. Volunteers also marked exams completed by younger students below fourth grade.

Personnel Input:
Volunteers prepared the classes in alignment with the teacher’s requirements. This includes a simplified article about Kenya from a German newspaper and practical samples for student use. Volunteers also updated existing learning materials and explained them to students as needed. Some materials required thorough research before the class to ensure grammar rules are explained correctly in English. Personal hardware, such as laptops and mobile devices, was used for on-site research.

Volunteers also created “success cards” for the students to support and motivate them. These self-created cards were proudly delivered.

Achievements:
Students have demonstrated their dictation skills (listening and writing down). They have enhanced their ability to discuss topics in a foreign language, as well as their grammar skills concerning case-related relative nouns and imperative sentences. Often, they have learned new vocabulary based on their requests.

Unanticipated Achievements:
Students have requested “success cards” as part of their mental support and motivation.
