Activity Purpose/ Summary:
Ujima Foundation for Training and Development recently hosted social work students and their professor from Kassel University in Germany. Their visit aimed to explore local organizations in Kisumu, gaining insights into the challenges faced in the social work field and interacting with students, volunteers, and young community workers.
As part of their program, Jijenge Youth Organization welcomed the group for a two-hour session. During this interaction, Jijenge Youth Organization introduced their work, highlighted their key activities, and discussed their partnerships. The organization emphasized the support they receive from partners, such as Better Me, particularly in training facilitators for community projects, which plays a crucial role in driving their initiatives. The visit provided an opportunity for meaningful exchange and strengthened connections between the visiting group and the local community organizations.
Personnel Input:
We introduced our organization, sharing details about our mission, the role we play within the community, and the key partnerships that help us achieve our goals. After this introduction, we hosted a session with a group of young people who joined us for an afternoon of social interaction and open discussion. This session focused on exploring the differences between the experiences of young people in Africa and those in Europe, encouraging an open dialogue that fostered cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
