Activity Purpose/ Summary:
We taught the kids about the importance of self-confidence and resilience. In the first part, we explained why this topic matters and showed that people everywhere face similar challenges and sometimes struggle with depression. Each student also wrote about a moment when they were brave. After that, we explained the words “self-confidence” and “resilience” using examples.
The main part of the lesson was a group activity. Students first shared three of their own strengths, then gave positive feedback to the partner on their right by highlighting a specific strength. The goal was to share encouragement and help boost each other’s self-confidence.
In the final part, we introduced the three pillars of resilience and asked students to reflect on different scenarios and identify a resilient action. Overall, everyone was able to take away at least one key learning that will help them become more resilient and self-confident in the future.
