Activity Purpose/ Summary:
On Friday, we kicked off our first session of the year at St. Williams Learning Centre, where we engaged the students in a comprehensive review of last year’s programs. The goal was to evaluate the impact of our activities and collaboratively plan for this year’s programs. By adopting a participatory approach, we aimed to ensure the students’ voices were heard, fostering ownership of the initiatives and aligning them with their needs and aspirations. During the session, the students expressed interest in adding a talent show and a sports day to this year’s program, highlighting the importance of activities that promote personal growth and community bonding.

Personnel Input:
Facilitators provided a structured platform for reviewing past activities and brainstorming future initiatives. This involved engaging discussions with students about what they appreciated and what could be improved, as well as proposals for this year’s activities. Additionally, we emphasized personal development themes to align future sessions with their expressed goals and interests.

Achievements:
The participatory review was a success, with students eagerly sharing feedback on previous programs. We also developed a tentative plan for the year, incorporating exciting events like a talent show and sports day.

Unanticipated Achievements:
A particularly uplifting outcome was the unexpected level of student engagement and leadership in the discussions. Many students demonstrated their potential to lead and their ability to articulate well-thought-out ideas, showcasing improved confidence and communication skills stemming from last year’s sessions.
