Activity Purpose/ Summary:
During a session at the remand home, we engaged the children in a discussion about the Brief Resilience Scale and the power of hope as tools for overcoming life’s challenges. We focused on helping them understand how building resilience and maintaining hope can guide them away from criminal activities and toward a meaningful, purposeful life. We explored hope as an anchor, something they can rely on to envision a brighter future despite their current circumstances. The session encouraged self-reflection, open dialogue, and peer support, with many children expressing new perspectives about their potential and a desire for change. This session was part of our ongoing effort to foster emotional strength and inspire future-focused thinking.

Personnel Input:
As part of the session, we introduced a physical activity challenge: holding a push-up position for as long as possible, with a prize for the winner. This exercise was a practical metaphor for resilience, emphasizing the importance of pushing through discomfort and adversity with a clear goal in mind.

Afterward, students reflected on their motivation to persevere. Many mentioned they endured because there was something to gain at the end, illustrating how having a clear, hopeful objective can fuel perseverance and determination.

The session concluded with a group reflection on applying this mindset to life’s challenges, reinforcing the message that resilience and hope are powerful tools for personal change.

Achievements:
They quickly grasped the assignment and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Unanticipated Achievements:
Wanted the continuation of the session.
