Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The Okiri Festival was organized as part of Better Me’s FIFA Foundation-funded community project, aiming to show children in the juvenile system that they deserve a second chance. The festival featured a football match between our Nyalenda Youngstars and children from the remand, who had previously been involved in breaking Kenyan laws. This interaction was designed to highlight the importance of positive behavior change through the universal language of football.
Personnel Input:
Better Me played a crucial role in coordinating and supporting the festival. The Nyalenda Youngstars participated in the football match, highlighting the values of teamwork, empathy, and resilience. Better Me staff facilitated the interaction, ensuring the children involved grasped the message of second chances and positive behavior change.
