Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The mobile library program aims to promote literacy and provide access to educational resources in rural and underserved communities. Its core mission is to inspire a love for reading among children and young adults who otherwise have limited access to books. The program seeks to reach areas without nearby libraries and support local schools in their literacy initiatives.
Personnel Input:
Volunteers conducted group reading sessions where children read aloud or follow along as a story is read to them. These sessions help improve listening and reading comprehension, build vocabulary, and instill an interest in books. These activities create an inclusive and engaging environment that encourages learning and creativity, making reading accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the community.
Achievements:
Exposure to books and tutoring sessions can lead to improved school performance, especially in language and reading comprehension. Kids who regularly attend mobile library sessions often demonstrate better engagement in class, increased confidence, and significant academic progress.
Unanticipated Achievements:
Most of the kids knew how to read, and because of that, they were reading and getting help with the more complex words.
