Activity Purpose/ Summary:
Initially, we explained to the kids which ingredients they needed to make pancakes. By preparing a small batch of dough ourselves, the kids could see the process and were able to make their own dough with minimal assistance. We divided the kids into two groups so everyone could contribute by doing small tasks, such as adding the milk or whisking. Afterwards, we explained three life skills to the children that are essential for cooking and everyday life: patience, independence, and teamwork. Then, with Kelvin’s and our help, the children proceeded to fry the pancakes. At the end, we distributed the pancakes, and the children were allowed to enjoy them.
Personnel Input:
Showing them how to make pancakes and assisting them in doing it themselves, while also teaching them life skills they can learn through cooking.
Achievements:
To help children become independent and take care of themselves by learning to cook on their own.
Unanticipated Achievements:
They listened carefully and followed the recipe step by step, ensuring a good dough was created.
