Activity Purpose/ Summary:
On Friday, we held a class at Korando Educational Learning Center on the topic of Self-Talk. The session focused on the two types of self-talk: positive and negative. Students learned how their internal dialogue affects their emotions, decisions, and overall mindset. Through interactive discussions, they were encouraged to engage in self-reflection, identify negative thoughts, and consciously transform them into positive affirmations. The main objective was to instill intentionality in their approach to personal growth, ensuring they stay committed to their goals despite challenges, as success doesn’t come easily.
Personnel Input:
The facilitators used an engaging approach, incorporating relatable examples, storytelling, and interactive discussions to help students understand the concept of self-talk. Each student was encouraged to express their thoughts and experiences, creating a safe and open environment for learning. Practical exercises were included, where students shared negative thoughts they had encountered and worked together to reframe them into positive statements.
Achievements:
The students actively participated in the session, showing a keen interest in the topic. They successfully identified instances of negative self-talk in their daily lives and shared strategies to counter them. Many expressed a newfound awareness of how their thoughts shape their actions and future.
Unanticipated Achievements:
Beyond the expected outcomes, some students opened up about personal struggles with self-doubt and fear of failure, creating an opportunity for peer support and encouragement.
