Activity Purpose/ Summary:
On Thursday, the Korando Kids explored the works of renowned contemporary artist Ai Weiwei. Known for his thought-provoking pieces, Ai Weiwei’s art often addresses themes of social justice, human rights, and cultural heritage. Natalie from the Ubuntu community guided the children in exploring and interpreting Ai Weiwei’s artwork alongside the facilitators. The children enthusiastically created their interpretations of the artist’s themes, showcasing both creativity and critical thinking.

Personnel Input:
Natalie from the Ubuntu community played a crucial role in guiding the session, sharing insights about Ai Weiwei’s art, and helping the children understand the deeper meanings behind his work. The facilitators provided hands-on support to the children, assisting them in translating their thoughts into art.

Achievements:
The session successfully introduced the children to Ai Weiwei’s art and its underlying themes. The children showed remarkable creativity, drawing inspiration from Ai Weiwei’s themes and incorporating them into their own artwork.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The facilitators also noticed improved confidence and communication among the children as they shared their ideas and collaborated on their creations.
