Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The event was organized by Blue Cross and other stakeholders to empower children and youth through various activities, aiming to ensure they have a healthy and safe environment free from alcohol and other substances. It also focuses on mental health and educating them on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). The main goal of the KAA Sober Event is to positively impact the lives of children and youth during this long holiday and to foster bonding experiences through dance, music, modeling, narratives, poetry, skits, and team-building activities.
Personnel Input:
We had an opportunity to run a class for kids aged 10 to 16 on values. We highlighted the key aspects of considering values as tools to keep our heads high, as they form a significant part of our personal identity. Values shape us into our authentic selves and give us a sense of purpose and meaning, driving our personality, goal setting, and how we lead our lives. They also provide a better understanding of who we are. There were 20 different classes, and we had a class of 45 students.
Achievements:
As part of advocacy, other organizations are extending invitations and partnerships for the community activities they are hosting.
Unanticipated Achievements:
The organization was amazing, and the number of young people who attended the event was impressive. At least 3,000 students from both primary and high schools were in attendance.
