Activity Purpose/ Summary:
A First Aid Life Skills session was held at St. Williams Primary School on June 19, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The session aimed to equip learners with essential first aid knowledge and practical skills to help them respond confidently during emergencies. Topics covered included the importance of first aid, handling minor cuts and wounds, managing burns, responding to nosebleeds, and knowing when to seek professional medical assistance. Learners were engaged throughout the session, participating in discussions, demonstrations, and Q&A activities.
Personnel Input:
Better Me personnel facilitated the session by delivering first aid lessons, demonstrating basic emergency response techniques, engaging learners in practical activities, and answering questions. The facilitators also emphasized safety awareness, teamwork, and the importance of staying calm during emergencies. They used relatable examples to help participants understand how first aid skills apply in real-life situations.
Achievements:
Successfully reached 104 learners with first aid and life skills education. Increased participants’ awareness of basic emergency response procedures. Boosted learners’ confidence in handling common injuries and emergencies. Encouraged responsible decision-making and a strong sense of safety among students. Fostered an interactive learning environment that promoted active participation.
Unanticipated Achievements:
A positive surprise was the high level of enthusiasm and engagement shown by the learners. Many participants were able to connect the lessons to experiences from their homes and communities, which led to meaningful discussions and peer learning. Several students also expressed interest in exploring more advanced first aid skills in future sessions.
