Activity Purpose/ Summary:
Following the completion of legal proceedings, Titus, formerly housed at Kisumu Children Remand Home, was acquitted of all charges. By court order, Kisumu Children Remand Home, in collaboration with Better Me Kenya, was mandated to facilitate his reintegration and repatriation to his family home. This process aimed to ensure a safe, supportive, and child-friendly transition back into the community.

The reintegration journey began early in the morning, around 6:00 a.m., departing from Kisumu with Tongaren, Bungoma County as the destination. After several hours of travel through the western region, the team arrived at the family home at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, the team received a warm welcome from the boy’s stepmother and uncle, who also serves as his father figure. A family dialogue session was held to discuss the boy’s return, expectations, responsibilities, and the support structures available to him.

During the discussion, the family expressed gratitude for the safe return of the boy and affirmed their willingness to support him as he reintegrates into family and community life. They emphasized that continued support would depend on the boy’s commitment to positive behavior and personal growth. The boy was also encouraged to focus on becoming a responsible and better individual moving forward.

After confirming that the family environment was ready and supportive, the team formally handed over the boy to the family, wished them all the best, and began the return journey to Kisumu.
