Activity Report

Location: Remand Home
Activity Date: 28.06.2024
Start Time: 10:00 AM   End Time: 12:00 PM

Facilitators: Spencer Akoth, Jule Schlageter
Number of Participants: 14
Male: 12   Female: 2

Activity Purpose/ Summary:
We began the class by introducing the new topic “simple past.” Then we explained when and how to use this tense. After that, we did an exercise together with the kids. We finished the lesson a bit earlier than usual because we couldn’t print any worksheets for them.

Personnel Input:
We taught the students a new tense, the simple past. You use this tense when you talk about situations that are already over or that happened in the past. We explained only the regular verbs and how to form them. In the next lesson, we’ll also cover irregular verbs. For the exercise, we gave each kid a verb in its base form and they had to create their own sentence in the simple past using this verb. After everyone tried to complete this task, we finished the lesson.

Achievements:
The students got a first impression of the simple past and the rules about this tense. Now, we’re about to teach them how to use the different tenses correctly, not just intuitively.

Unanticipated Achievements:
The participation in this class was quite good. Many of the students tried to create their own sentences using the simple past, and the results from this exercise were better than expected.
