Your donation keeps children in school.
Help children in Kenya keep learning while we find them a sponsor.
Every child at Korando can attend school, whether or not they have an individual sponsor yet. While they wait, the Bridge Fund covers:
- School operations
- Daily hot meals
- Life skills sessions
- Psycho-social support
- Sports & community activities
Not every child at Korando has a sponsor yet. Until they do, there is a real funding gap. The Bridge Fund keeps every child enrolled while we find their long-term sponsor.
The Bridge Fund covers a hot meal every school day, life skills and mentorship sessions, and community sport — everything that makes Korando more than just a classroom. Children learn, eat, grow, and play.
In rural Kenya, girls face real pressure to leave school early. The Bridge Fund helps ensure every girl at Korando has a safe place to live, learn, and grow.
Every girl who stays in school changes everything
Family expectations, safety concerns, and the absence of basic necessities all push girls to leave school early. In Kisumu, 11% of teenage girls become pregnant before finishing school. For most, that means the end of their education.
At Korando, we make sure no girl has to choose between dignity and education. That includes dignity packs — hygiene essentials provided regularly so that something as simple as a period never becomes a reason to stay home.
149 girls attend Korando today. Each one is tracked, supported, and celebrated. Because an educated girl doesn't just change her own life. She changes her family's future.

A School. A Home. A Place to Grow.
The Korando Educational Center is more than a school. Children wake up here, eat here, study here, and go to sleep here. The dormitories, classrooms, and facilities are maintained so every child has a clean, safe place to live and learn.

The day our founder found Korando
The Korando Educational Center was founded in 1996 by Mama Dolfine — a woman who believed that children in this community deserved a place to learn. But when our founder Torsten arrived in 2012, what he found were mud structures. Basic, fragile, and in desperate need of support.
He decided to stay involved. Over the years that followed, together with Mama Dolfine and the local community, mud walls became classrooms. Temporary shelters became dormitories. A small initiative became a fully developed educational center serving 315 children today.
A decade of moments — children, teachers, and volunteers who have made Korando what it is today.

Child Sponsorship
The most sustainable way to help is a sponsorship.
Bridge Fund donations keep children in school today — and we're grateful for every one. But a sponsorship does something more lasting: it permanently removes a child from the funding gap. Once a child has a sponsor, the Bridge Fund no longer needs to cover them. That's one step closer to a Korando where every child has long-term, reliable support behind them.

Every new sponsorship brings Korando closer to reliable educational support for every child.
