Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The purpose of this activity was to engage boys under the Umoja Foundation in a focused discussion addressing the challenges they face, particularly around issues of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Harassment (SGBVH). The session aimed to raise awareness, promote respectful behavior, and empower the boys with knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and speak out against SGBVH in their communities.

Personnel Input:
Samambo led the group through interactive activities and discussions designed to engage the boys and encourage reflection on issues related to Sexual Gender-Based Violence and Harassment (SGBVH) and the Triple Threat. The boys were actively involved throughout the session, contributing to discussions, participating in role plays, and sharing personal insights.

Achievements:
Some key achievements of the session included raising awareness among the boys about the various forms of Sexual Gender-Based Violence and Harassment (SGBVH), and gaining a better understanding of how the Triple Threat—Early Pregnancy, HIV, and Sexual Abuse—affects their peers and communities. The session also fostered the development of positive attitudes toward respect, consent, and gender equality. The boys actively participated in discussions, challenged harmful stereotypes, and reflected on their roles in promoting safe and respectful relationships. Many participants made personal commitments to speak out against violence and become positive role models, demonstrating a shift in mindset and a willingness to take responsibility for creating safer spaces for everyone.

Unanticipated Achievements:
An unexpected achievement of the session was the level of openness and vulnerability shown by the boys. Several participants shared personal experiences and asked insightful questions, which deepened the discussion beyond expectations. Additionally, some boys expressed interest in continuing conversations on gender-based issues, respect, and healthy masculinity. This initiative indicates a strong sense of ownership and a desire to lead change among their peers, serving as a foundation for future youth-led advocacy and mentorship efforts.
