Activity Purpose/ Summary:
On Thursday, we hosted an exciting and creative art class at Korando, focusing on the works of Henri Matisse, particularly his later “cutout” style and the representation of body forms. The session aimed to introduce children to Matisse’s unique artistic approach, where he used paper cutouts to create vibrant, abstract compositions. The lesson not only brought Matisse’s bold and simple aesthetic to life but also encouraged students to think creatively about how body parts connect and move, engaging them both artistically and physically.
Personnel Input:
The team then introduced the materials and demonstrated how to use cutouts to create body forms in motion. We provided hands-on support to each student, assisting them in piecing together their cutouts while explaining proportion, balance, and expression through form.
Achievements:
Most importantly, students showed enthusiasm and a sense of pride in their completed artwork, which boosted their confidence in creative expression.
Unanticipated Achievements:
This peer-to-peer support not only built a sense of teamwork but also encouraged them to express their creative thinking.
