Activity Purpose/ Summary:
In this session, students worked on still-life drawing inspired by Paul Cézanne’s famous apple studies. They practiced observing and sketching apples, focusing on shape, size, shading, and perspective. The session encouraged students to look beyond the simple image of an apple and notice its subtle details and forms, aiming to capture these qualities in their own artwork.

Personnel Input:
The facilitators offered clear, step-by-step guidance on building drawings. They showed how layering colors and shading can add depth, how to observe light and shadow closely, and how to capture perspective for more realistic results. Children were encouraged to slow down and be patient with their observations, helping them develop focus and concentration.

Achievements:
The children produced still-life drawings that showed a clear improvement in their use of shading and depth. They started to see how everyday objects could be drawn to highlight their structure, form, and texture. This was an important step in building both their technical and observational skills.

Unanticipated Achievements:
Several learners went further by comparing the sizes, shapes, and colors of the apples, showing curiosity and keen observation. Their attention to the differences between objects shows they’re starting to think like artists—questioning, comparing, and interpreting the world around them.
