Activity Purpose/ Summary:
The recent art class with the Grade 5 students was a remarkable session filled with creativity and enthusiasm. We were joined by Natalie, whose presence added to the excitement. The session focused on drawing a swimming pool scene inspired by the works of David Hockney, a renowned artist known for his vibrant, sunlit pool paintings. His artistic style, characterized by bold colors and a playful perspective, served as great inspiration for the students, encouraging them to explore water, movement, and reflections in their drawings.
Personnel Input:
The facilitators guided the kids throughout the class, encouraging them to explore various colors and stay confident with their art. We also broke down complex concepts into simpler terms they could understand.
Achievements:
One of the key achievements of the session was the children’s ability to translate their ideas into drawings, effectively applying the concepts of perspective and depth. They showed a keen interest in learning about Hockney’s technique and incorporated it into their artwork with impressive creativity.
Unanticipated Achievements:
An unexpected achievement was the collaboration among students. They not only worked on their individual pieces but also shared ideas and encouraged each other. This fostered a strong sense of teamwork and support, which was a fantastic aspect of the session.
